 Theater brings us together: in an auditorium, or a gymnasium, or a park. We sit near one another, we hear stories, and we find commonality. Theater creates its own unique worlds; its immediacy is unique and its lessons are timeless. A playwright's words, performed with passion, elicit laughter, anger, sorrow, inspiration.
Theater is challenging. It can't be switched off like a television. It forces us to listen and learn. As we experience a play, feelings are magnified, prejudices and beliefs are challenged. Our minds are illuminated.
By its nature, theater is communal - a collaboration of ideas and talents. A director provides inspiration. A designer has vision. An actor speaks a playwright's words. The audience adds its own energy and rhythm. And then harmony. All of this entwines together into a powerful shared experience.
